After the sentencing, Vishal Anand, brother-in-law of Judge Uttam Anand, said that after studying the verdict, he will decide whether to go to the High Court or not.

Auto hit Dhanbad judge

Special CBI Judge Rajinikanth Pathak on Saturday sentenced both the convicts Rahul Verma and Lakhan Verma to life imprisonment while hearing the point of punishment in the Judge Uttam Anand murder case. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000. Let us tell you that on July 28, 2021, Judge Uttam Anand went out on the morning walk at five in the morning. He was walking on the side of the road when an auto hit him hard from behind near Randhir Verma Chowk. In this incident, ADJ died on the spot. On 28 July 2022, the court, while pronouncing the verdict, said that it is proved that both have intentionally killed Judge Uttam Anand. There is no motive or intention in every murder, it is not necessary. If the accused knows that his act may result in death, then there is no need for detention.

High Court was monitoring the case

Let us tell you that on 28 July 2021, taking seriously the murder of Dhanbad judge Uttam Anand, the Jharkhand High Court converted it into a public interest litigation. The matter was being investigated by forming an SIT. Meanwhile, the state government recommended a CBI inquiry into the matter. After getting the permission of the Center, the CBI took the hand over the matter and registered an FIR and started the investigation. The Supreme Court, while hearing the Judge Uttam Anand murder case, had directed the CBI to submit the status report of the investigation to the Jharkhand High Court. The High Court continued to monitor the investigation.

Decision came after one year

On July 28, 2021, Judge Uttam Anand died after being hit by an auto. The verdict was pronounced recently after the completion of the hearing in the court of Judge Rajinikanth Pathak in the special court of CBI. Both were found guilty. There was a huge crowd in the court during the hearing. On the day of the incident, Judge Uttam Anand was doing morning walk near Randhir Verma Chowk when an auto hit him. He died during treatment at SNMCH. The auto riders had fled after the incident. Taking action, Dhanbad police arrested the accused auto driver Lakhan Verma from Giridih. Later, the police also arrested another accused Rahul Verma from near Dhanbad station. Initially the district police was investigating it. Later the investigation was started by the SIT set up by the state government. This matter also reached the Supreme Court. Later, the investigation of the case was started by the CBI under the monitoring of the High Court.
