KCR will boycott the meeting of NITI Aayog, the commission said - Decision Unfortunate

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) will boycott the 7th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog to be held on Sunday. He took this step against the discriminatory attitude of the Center towards the states. In this regard, KCR also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that I will not be a part of the 7th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog to be held in Delhi as a protest.

Responds KCR said that there is no justification for attending the meeting of NITI Aayog to protest against the Center discriminating against the states and not treating them as equal partners. At the same time, NITI Aayog said, the decision of Telangana Chief Minister not to attend the Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog is unfortunate. The NITI Aayog team had met KCR in Hyderabad and discussed important issues for the development of the state, the commission said. Since then, the CM has not responded to the requests of the meeting from the NITI Aayog.

According to NITI Aayog, in the last four years, the Government of India allocated Rs.3982 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission for the state of Telangana, but the state decided to withdraw only Rs.200 crore. Apart from this, Rs 1195 crore was released to Telangana under PMKSY-AIBP-CADWM during 2014-2015 to 2021-2022.

NITI Aayog said it was unfortunate that Chief Minister Telangana decided not to attend the Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog. The Governing Council is a forum where the supreme political leadership discusses development issues and agrees on appropriate solutions for national development.
