The Supreme Court will hear on August 12 (Friday) the Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the state government in the case of investment in shell companies of close friends of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. A supplementary affidavit has been filed on behalf of the state government. On behalf of the state government, through a supplementary affidavit, the record related to the registration of the case, arrest and court order in Kolkata against the advocate Rajiv Kumar of the respondent (applicant Shiv Shankar Sharma in the public interest litigation) has been brought before the Supreme Court. .

The Jharkhand High Court had on June 3, 2022 considered maintainable (acceptable) the PILs filed by the close friends of Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren regarding investment in shell companies and investigation into the mining lease allocation case to Hemant Soren in Anagada. After this, the Jharkhand High Court started hearing on the merit of the petitions filed by the applicant Shiv Shankar Sharma. The next hearing on merit is scheduled for August 26.
