An auto rickshaw and a bike collided with a car in Anand, Gujarat on Thursday evening, killing at least six people.

AHMEDABAD: An auto rickshaw and a bike collided with a car in Anand, Gujarat on Thursday evening, killing at least six people. There were four people in the auto-rickshaw and two in the bike. The car was hit so hard that all the six people sitting on the auto and the bike died. In this case, the police have registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder on Ketan Padhiyar, son-in-law of Congress MLA Poonambhai Parmar. This case has been registered at Sojitra police station on Friday.

Six including two women died in car collision

According to media reports, the police have registered a case of culpable homicide against the son-in-law of the Congress MLA in connection with the car collision that took place on Thursday evening in Anand, Gujarat. An autorickshaw and a motorcycle were hit by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) of the MLA's son-in-law, killing six people, officials said. He said that the accident took place on Thursday evening near Sojitra village on the road connecting Anand town to Tarapur. He said that six people, including three women, were killed in the accident.

Congress MLA's son-in-law's blood will be investigated

Police sub-inspector AP Parmar of Sojitra police station said that the accused has been identified as Ketan Padhiyar, son-in-law of Congress MLA from Sojitra seat, Poonambhai Parmar. Ketan Padhiyar was also injured in the accident and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Anand. He told that Padhiyar is in our custody and he will be arrested as soon as he is discharged from the hospital. Meanwhile, we have sent his blood sample for testing to ascertain whether he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

Case registered for culpable homicide not amounting to murder

Local police officials said that the six people killed in the accident are residents of Sojitra and Boriyavi villages. District Superintendent of Police Ajit Rajian said that the SUV was allegedly driving Padhiyar at the time of the accident and after the accident, the vehicle left the spot and fled. However, he was caught later. He said that a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder has been registered against the driver (Padhiyar) of the SUV under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code.
