Kanpur Metro: The work of casting the Concourse Level of Nayaganj Metro Station under Chunniganj-Nayaganj underground section of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project has been started today. For the first time in this section, the casting work has started at the Concourse level at any station. Along with this, this is a significant progress in the construction work of different floors of the underground station being done through top-down system.

Excavation will also run parallel

The Nayaganj metro station will be about 225 meters long and 22.3 meters wide. At present all the four stations of Chunniganj-Nayaganj underground section; The work of casting roof slabs (roof of the station) is progressing at full speed at Chunniganj, Naveen Market, Bada Chauraha and Nayaganj. Excavation will also run parallel

The excavation work for the construction of the Concourse at Nayaganj Metro Station started from July 8. A large part of the excavation area under the scope of work has been covered and now the casting of the concourse slab has been started. Along with Concourse Casting, excavation of Concourse Level at the station and casting and excavation of roof slabs will also run parallel.

Platform level build

The four metro stations of Chunniganj-Nayaganj underground section are being built with top-down system i.e. the construction process is being done from top to bottom. The Concourse level of the underground station, ie the first floor, is where the passenger facilities like ticket counters and security check booths etc. There is one floor below the road just opposite the concourse level of the overhead stations. The top-down system at these stations consists of casting the roof of the stations first, followed by the construction of the concourse level and then the platform level.

How do Escalator Machines Work?

Cut-outs are made in the roof slab (roof of the station) to prepare the concourse. Escalator machines are lowered through these cut-outs, which excavate the soil after excavation. Only after this the process of making Concourse slabs is started, as done today at Nayaganj metro station. After the concourse slab, the same process is repeated to make the platform level and the elevator machines are lowered by making cut-outs in the concourse slab. It is through these cut-outs that the machines and other equipment required for construction are transported to the concourse and platform. In Nayaganj metro station, the concourse and platform are being constructed through four cut-outs.

Vehicular movement will continue

To ensure that the traffic is least affected by the ongoing work at the station under construction, the top-down system has been adopted so that after the first floor is constructed, starting from the road level, the barricading on the road is minimized. can go After this, the construction work of the station under the road will continue and the movement of vehicles on the road will also continue smoothly.
