Government in action after poisonous liquor scandal, 73 thousand raids against illegal liquor in 20 days

On an average, 3650 raids and 900 arrests have been made by Bihar Police every day during this period.

After the death of more than a dozen people due to spurious liquor in Saran (Chhapra) district, the state government has come into action regarding alcohol. Bihar Police and Prohibition Department have together conducted about 73 thousand raids in the state in the last 20 days. In which 18 thousand people have been arrested for trading or drinking illegal liquor.

On an average 3650 raids per day

On an average, 3650 raids and 900 arrests have been made by Bihar Police every day during this period. Out of these, more than 30 thousand raids and 8500 arrests have been done in the last one week only. On Monday, Commissioner of Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department B Karthikeya Dhanaji gave this information to the media personnel.

Conviction rate increased to 93 percent

The Excise Commissioner said that in the last four months, the conviction rate for the arrested criminals has increased to 93 percent. In the cases registered under prohibition of liquor, trial of 4622 has been completed by starting trial in 1.28 lakh cases so far. In these cases, 944 have been acquitted while 3678 have been convicted so far. Of these, 60 people were sentenced to imprisonment ranging from five years to ten years.

Bhojpur also got a speed motorboat

The Excise Commissioner said that now Bhojpur district has also been provided with speed motor boats to conduct raids regarding liquor. The department has bought this 15-seat motor boat for Rs 22 lakh. At the same time, with the help of two such motor boats, raids are being conducted in the rivers of Patna and Saran districts. The special thing is that there is also a facility for landing of drones on these speed motor boats.
