Due to this, the National Filariasis Eradication Program running in the district for the last two years is getting a setback. This time in 18 days, 14 thousand 744 new patients of filariasis have been found in the district. These patients have been found in the night blood survey conducted by Jeevika Didi in 16 blocks of the district in the month of August, according to the report released by the Health Department, maximum number of cases have been found in Kudhni block. 2215 patients have been found here, while the second number is Sakra block, where 1875 patients have been found. Paru is in third place, where 1670 patients have been found. 1106 patients have been found in Musahari. According to the report of the department, at least 90 patients have been found in Kanti block.

Blood sample for total 20 thousand 91

In the programs being run for the eradication of filariasis, night blood survey was conducted in 16 blocks of the district regarding filarial patient. During this, blood samples of 20 thousand 91 people were taken at night from eight sites in all the blocks including four Sentinels, four random sites, which were checked block wise. In the investigation completed on 26 August, filariasis was found in a total of 14 thousand people in all eight sites. The District Malaria Officer said that the disease of filariasis is caused by the bite of infected Culex mosquito. When an infected Culex mosquito bites a healthy person more than 500 times, then the filarial virus begins to grow in the person's body, then it gradually grows and makes the patient completely infected with filariasis. Patients are being treated by detecting similar undeveloped filarial viruses in night blood survey.

How to protect against filariasis

Since filariasis is spread by mosquito bites, it is better to be protected from mosquitoes. For this, keep cleanliness around and inside the house.

Do not allow water to stagnate and spray insecticide from time to time. Wear full sleeve clothes.

While sleeping, apply mustard or neem oil on hands and feet and other exposed parts.

If there is any injury or wound in hand or foot, keep it clean. Wash with soap and then dry with water and apply the medicine.
