Dwarka Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati passed away on Sunday at the age of 99. He breathed his last in Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh. A few days back, he celebrated his 99th birthday. Shankaracharya was running ill for a long time. He breathed his last at 3:30 pm on Sunday. There is a wave of mourning due to the death of Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati.
Samadhi will be given on Monday
There is news that Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati will be given samadhi in his ashram at 5 pm on Monday. Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati was the greatest Mahant of the Hindus. Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati was the Shankaracharya of two mathas, Dwarka and Jyotirmath.
PM Modi expressed grief
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati by tweeting. Shankaracharya also played a big role in the freedom struggle
In 1942, when Mahatma Gandhi gave the slogan of Quit India, Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati also jumped into the freedom struggle after hearing it. At the age of just 19, he became famous as a revolutionary monk. In 1950, he was made a Dandi Sanyasi. In 1981, he was given the title of Shankaracharya. In 1950 itself, he took initiation from Sharda Peeth Shankaracharya Swami Brahmanand Saraswati for Dand Sannyasa. After that he came to be known as Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati.
At the age of nine, Shankaracharya had given up the house
Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati was born on 2 September 1924. He left home at the age of only nine. After being away from home, he started religious tours. During this he traveled to Kashi and then learned Veda-Vedang and scriptures from Swami Karpatri Maharaj.
