Northeast militants will put weapons before the government, agreement between Assam and terrorist groups

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that after this agreement, 1170 militants will surrender and join the mainstream.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the agreement was signed between the Assam government and representatives of 8 tribal groups. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was also present on the occasion. He said that after a long process, an atmosphere of peace and prosperity is being established in the North East. At the same time, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that after this agreement, 1170 militants will surrender and join the mainstream. Also they will hand over 300 automatic weapons to the government. This will be a big step towards peace in Assam.  

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that 8 militant organizations were born due to the demands of the tribal population of Assam. This extremist organization started talks with the government in 2012. In 2016, a ceasefire agreement was signed between the government and militant organizations. He said that it is very important for Assam. Under the leadership of PM Modi, work is going on to make Northeast the Ashtalakshmi of the country.



It is worth noting that the Central Government today signed an agreement with eight tribal terrorist organizations to bring lasting peace in parts of Assam. These eight groups include All Adivasi National Liberation Army, Adivasi Cobra Militant of Assam, Birsa Commando Force, Santhal Tiger Force and Adivasi People's Army.

 Beginning of a new era of peace and harmony: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said on this occasion that he is confident that a new era of peace and harmony will begin in Assam with the settlement. Barring the hardline faction of ULFA led by Paresh Baruah and Kamtapur Liberation Organisation, all other insurgent groups operating in the state have entered into a peace agreement with the government.
