West Singhbhum Police is running a continuous campaign against opium, yet the opium business has slowly started taking over the district. West Singhbhum police arrested 4 smugglers of CRPF jawans who smuggled opium. From them, the police have seized 2 kg opium and two lakh 95 thousand rupees in cash and other things. One of the people who have been arrested in this business of opium is a smuggler of CRPF. Arrested CRPF jawan Ravi Kumar is posted in Jalandhar (Punjab). He had come to Chakradharpur for the drug business. Apart from Ravi Kumar, Chakradharpur police have arrested Balbir Chand of Punjab Fazilka district, Francis Lugun of Tebo police station area and Budhuva Purti of Muruh police station area of Khunti.
In fact, the Chakradharpur police had received secret information that opium is being bought and sold by smugglers in Chakradharpur. On this information a raiding team was formed by the police. In which the BDO of Chakradharpur was present as a magistrate. The raiding team saw five people buying and selling opium in Padampur village located on the Sonua-Chakradharpur road. After which the police laid siege to him and arrested him. However, one person managed to escape from the spot.
During interrogation, Ravi Kumar and Balveer Chand, residents of Fazilka district of Punjab, have confessed their crime and told the police that they buy opium from Francis Lugun and John Bodra and sell it in Punjab and Delhi. Apart from opium and rupees, the police have also recovered 4 mobile phones, an electric scale, 11 ATM cards, 1 bundled check book and two credit cards from them. After interrogating the four arrested people, all of them were presented in the Chaibasa court on Saturday and sent to jail. However, Johan Bodra is absconding in this case.
