Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia won the bronze medal in the World Wrestling Championship.

World Wrestling Championship: Indian star wrestler Bajrang Punia has created history in the World Wrestling Championship released in Belgrade . Poonia won the bronze medal in the men's 65 kg freestyle weight category. He defeated Sebastian Rivera of Puerto Rico 11-9 in the bronze medal match. With this, Bajrang Punia has made another big record in his name. Poonia has become the first Indian wrestler to do so at the World Wrestling Championships.

After the Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Bajrang Punia also won a bronze medal in the World Wrestling Championships. He won the bronze medal in the 65 kg weight category by defeating Sebastian Rivera of Puerto Rico 11-9. Bajrang Punia was trailing 0-6 in this match, but he made a tremendous comeback and won the bronze medal.


History made in World Wrestling Championship

Earlier, Bajrang Punia had to face defeat at the hands of John Diakomihalis in the quarter-finals. After this he won a bronze medal in repechage. This is Bajrang Punia's fourth medal in the World Wrestling Championship. Earlier, Poonia had won bronze in 2013, silver in 2018 and bronze again in 2019. With this, Bajrang Punia became the first Indian wrestler to win four medals in the World Wrestling Championship.

Have done wonders in Commonwealth Games too

Bajrang Punia also performed brilliantly in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022. Here he won the gold medal. Bajrang Punia won the gold by defeating Lachlan McNeil of Canada 9-2 in the final. Earlier, Bajrang Punia won silver medal in 2014 and gold medal in 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Bajrang Punia has won the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics.
