A proposal has been made to build an international airport bigger than Jewar at Nawabganj in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh. On the instructions of the government, the concept plan prepared by KDA under the State Capital Region, the minimum distance from Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary to the airport has been kept at 5 kilometers so that the habitat of birds is not affected.

Three more cities included

On the lines of Delhi-NCR, three more cities Sitapur, Rae Bareli and Hardoi have also been included in Lucknow-Kanpur State Capital Region. Earlier, apart from Lucknow and Kanpur, only Unnao and Barabanki cities were included. The nominated agency of Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) has surveyed for this and has given its report. The most important proposal in this is of Nawabganj International Airport. About 10 thousand acres of land will be required to build an airport. The work of marking the land has also started.

Convenience to the people of Bihar, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh

Giving information, the Vice-Chairman of Kanpur Development Authority, Arvind Singh said that it has taken about 9 months to prepare this project. It is also necessary to build an international airport near Nawabganj because Amausi airport cannot be expanded any more. The population is increasing continuously. The benefit of this airport will be available not only to the people of the state capital region but also to the cities of Bundelkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.
