M Srinivas, Dean of ESIC Hospital and Medical College in Hyderabad has been appointed as the Director of AIIMS Delhi.

AIIMS Delhi: M Srinivas, Dean of ESIC Hospital and Medical College located in Hyderabad has been appointed as the new Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi. The Department of Personnel and Training has issued an order in this regard. The re-extension of Dr Guleria's tenure as the Director of AIIMS ends on November 23.

Approval for appointment of Dr. Srinivas as Director of AIIMS

An order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training on September 9 said that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Dr. Srinivas as the Director of AIIMS, New Delhi. According to the order, this appointment is effective for a period of 5 years or till the age of 65 years from the date of assuming office or until further orders, whichever is earlier. It has been said that the extension of work of Dr. Randeep Guleria on the post of Director of AIIMS, Delhi is effective from the old date, March 25, 2022, which will be effective for 6 months or till the appointment of the next Director, whichever is earlier.

Who is Dr M Srinivas?

Dr. Srinivas was Professor in the Department of Pediatric Surgery (Children's Surgery) at AIIMS, Delhi before moving to ESIC Hospital and Medical College, Hyderabad in 2016. He became the Dean of ESIC Hospital in 2016. The central government had appointed Dr. Srinivas in 2016 to rescue the Employee State Insurance Company (ESIC) hospital from its dilapidated condition. Dr. Srinivas had made the hospital one of the busiest hospitals within three years.
