A tractor-trolley full of devotees overturned in a pond at Asnaha Gaddipurwa of Itaunja in Lucknow. 47 people drowned in the pond after the tractor-trolley overturned. Villagers started evacuating people as soon as the accident happened, but 10 people died due to drowning in the water. Seven women and three girls were among the dead. The tractor-trolley was coming from Behta side due to the collision due to the carelessness of the speeding truck driver. The driver fled with the truck after the accident. At the same time, the police reached the spot and sent 36 people to the CHC for treatment. Where one was referred to the trauma center when his condition was critical. Administration and police officials reached the spot as soon as the accident was reported. The District Magistrate has announced an assistance of Rs.4 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased.

Chunni Lal alias Chunnan, a resident of Tikauli village of Sitapur Atria, along with wife Komal and family members, had left on the first day of Navratri on a tractor-trolley to ask for a manauti (koch) at the Durga temple located in Unai village of Itaunja. A total of 46 people of the village had come out with him to worship the temple. His tractor-trolley met with an accident at Gaddipurwa, Asnaha, Itaunja. The uncontrollable truck hit the tractor-trolley from the front. The collision was so strong that the tractor-trolley overturned in a large pond on the roadside. All the devotees got buried under the trolley. Due to which 10 people died. Among the dead were Chunnan's wife Komal (46), daughter Bitto (13), Ramratan Maurya's wife Sushma (58), Ramratan's daughter Ruchi (19), Baburam's wife Annapurna Devi (37), Sukhlal's wife Sukhrani (45), Ramkhelawan's wife Sushila Pandey (38), Pawan Gupta's daughter Anshika (13),

According to SP Rural Hridesh Kumar, the police team reached the spot as soon as the information about the accident was received. Relief work started. Earlier, under the leadership of Zahoor, the former head of Gaddipurwa, the people of the village had taken out 13 people safely. After this, all the people were taken out of the pond by the police team. The SDRF team was also called to the spot immediately after getting information about the accident. As soon as the accident happened, the driver fled with the truck. Which the police is looking for. According to the police, the tractor-trolley belonged to Awadh Naresh Pal of Tikoli. He was driving the tractor himself. He was on the spot for some time after the accident. But when people's bodies started coming out, he too ran away. Police is looking for him too.

People were trapped under the trolley: Inspector Ravindra Kumar, in-charge of Itaunja, reached with his team as soon as the information about the accident was received. Relief work started with the help of villagers. Three bodies were pulled out. According to the Inspector-in-Charge, all the victims of the accident were buried under the trolley as soon as it fell into the pond. There was no way to get out. Somehow the police and the villagers pulled out the people from under the trolley. According to the police, 36 people have been safely evacuated. All were sent to CHC Itaunja for treatment. Where the condition of one is critical, the trauma center has been referred.

Deputy CM tied the family consolation: District Magistrate Suryapal Gangwar, IG Range Laxmi Singh, SP Rural Hridesh Kumar, ASP Hridesh Katheria and CO BKT Nabina Shukla reached the spot as soon as the information about the accident was received. Everyone started monitoring the relief work continuously. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak reached around 2.30 pm. He met the relatives of the deceased at the CHC. He comforted them. Assured that the government will provide all possible help. After this, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak also went to the accident site. Where he thanked the villagers of Gaddipurwa for helping the administration in relief work.

Relief work lasted for five hours: The accident happened at around 10 am on Monday. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the villagers started relief work. At the same time, the police and administrative team also reached. SDRF also took the lead. The relief work continued till around 3 pm. The last body was taken out by SDRF at around 1.45 pm. After this, the search operation continued in the entire pond for one and a half hours. At the same time, JCB was called by the police to take out the tractor and trolley.
