Gandhi Jayanti 2022: Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, made a special appearance at the United Nations on Friday. Here he shared his message on education with the people for about 6.50 minutes. Yes, you read it absolutely right. In fact, Mahatma Gandhi was included in the panel discussion for the first time through life-sized holograms. Let us tell you that a discussion on International Day of Non-Violence was organized by the Permanent Mission of India and UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Peace and Sustainable Development Education in the United Nations on Friday.

Mahatma Gandhi joined the discussion thrice

Nonviolence Day was being celebrated at the United Nations Headquarters. During this time the old oral views of Mahatma Gandhi on education were shared. A special life-size hologram was arranged for this. Mahatma Gandhi had joined the discussion thrice through this hologram . Let us tell you that during the discussion, he shared his message by standing and sitting on the chair.

What ideas did Mahatma Gandhi give in the discussion?

His earlier oral views on education were shared. Mahatma Gandhi said that literacy is not the end or even the beginning of education. By education I mean all round communication of excellence in the body, mind and soul of the child or any individual. By spiritual training I mean the education of the mind.

Also another idea was given. We hardly give any thought to improve the character of educated people. Schools and colleges are actually a factory to produce clerks for the government. On the contrary, real education consists in bringing out the best in oneself. What can be a better book than this. Could there be anything greater than the Book of Humanity?

MGIEP director Ananth Duraiappa conducted the operation

On the occasion of World Non-Violence Day, UNESCO MGIEP Director Ananth Duraiappa conducted the discussion. It was also attended by Ruchira Kamboj, Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations, Bernice King, Chief Executive Officer of The King Center and Princess Hayu of Indonesia, champion of digital education transformation. In the discussion, special light was laid on education for human development. The program was part of the non-violence lecture series.
