Amul Milk Price Hike: Amul's milk has become expensive during the festive season. GCMMF, which sells milk products under the Amul brand, has increased the price of Amul Gold and buffalo milk by Rs 2 per liter. RS Sodhi, managing director of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), said that Amul Gold and buffalo milk have been increased by Rs 2 per liter. This price increase has been done in all the markets of the country except Gujarat. He said that the prices of these products have been increased due to increase in fat prices.

Let us tell you that this week two companies had increased the prices of milk. On October 11, Medha and Sudha Dairy announced a hike in milk prices. Milk of these two companies has become costlier by Rs 2 per liter. Amul, however, had earlier increased the price of milk by Rs 2 each in August and before that in March as well.

fodder is getting expensive

The last time Amul had increased the prices, it had cited the increase in cost. Let us tell you that the inflation rate of fodder is still close to the record level. This has been revealed from the wholesale inflation data released on Friday. According to the wholesale inflation data, the inflation rate of fodder is above 25 percent. Due to the cost of fodder, the cost of milk production is increasing and the profit of the cattle owners is decreasing.

Prices were increased in August also

The GCMMF had earlier on August 17 also increased the prices of its products by Rs 2 per liter citing rising cost of milk procurement. GCMMF also majorly sells milk outside Gujarat in Delhi-NCR, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Mumbai. It sells more than 150 lakh liters of milk per day. It sells about 40 lakh liters of milk in the Delhi-NCR market.
