Under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, a review meeting of the Jharkhand State Disaster Management Authority was held on Saturday at the Chief Minister's residential office on Kanke Road, Ranchi. In the meeting, it was decided to declare 226 blocks of 22 districts of the state as drought-hit. 3500 rupees will be given per farmer family for immediate drought relief. More than 30 lakh farmer families will get its benefit. The state government will spend about Rs 1200 crore on this.

More than 30 lakh farmers will get benefit

The Chief Minister took important decisions while discussing with the officials the drought assessment report prepared by the Agriculture Department regarding drought in the state. Taking serious note of the drought assessment report prepared by the Agriculture Department, the Chief Minister announced a big relief to the affected farmer families of 226 blocks of the identified 22 districts (except East Singhbhum and Simdega) of the state. The Chief Minister said that in view of the drought situation, Rs 3500 would be given to the farmer family for immediate drought relief in 226 blocks of 22 districts. This amount will be made available soon to all the affected farmer families of these 226 blocks. More than 30 lakh farmer families of the state will get its benefit.

Government will spend Rs 1200 crore

The Chief Minister said that according to the drought assessment report by the Agriculture Department, 226 blocks of 22 districts in the state are in the grip of drought. In such a situation, it is the moral responsibility of the state government to provide immediate drought relief to the affected farmer families. The Chief Minister said that more than 30 lakh farmer families of the state are in the grip of drought, who will be able to get its benefits. The state government will spend about Rs 1200 crore in providing drought relief funds. The Chief Minister directed the officers that soon after preparing a consolidated report on the basis of the assessment of the drought situation in the state, the demand for drought relief would be sent to the central government.
