Jammu and Kashmir Police said that Mukhtar Ahmed Bhat was the commander of the Resistance Front. This organization belongs to Lashkar-e-Taiba. It has been active in the areas around Pulwama for a long time.

Bhat used to threaten Kashmiri Pandits: Bhat had joined TRF since the age of 18. He used to inspire the youth living in Kashmir to take up arms against India. Apart from this, Bhat used to force Kashmiri Pandits and migrant laborers from other states to leave Kashmir by intimidating them in Pulwama.
