MP: Students punished for chanting 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' in private school of Guna, parents protest

Guna: A case of punishing a student for chanting 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' after the national anthem during assembly at a private school in Madhya Pradesh's Guna has come to light. This is a Wednesday. There is also news that after the case of punishing the student came to light, on Thursday, the parents of the students and the local people protested and sang hymns in front of the school. It is being told in the media report that the school administration has talked about holding a meeting of the disciplinary committee in this matter. At the same time, the district administration has given assurance of registering an FIR on the statement of the DEO (District Education Officer).

According to media reports, a Class VII student at Christ Senior Secondary School in Guna, Madhya Pradesh was punished after chanting 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' after the national anthem during the assembly. During a conversation with the media, the student told that after the national anthem, I raised the slogan 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'. After this a teacher grabbed my collar and pulled me out of line.

The victim student told that after this I was told by the teacher that I should go to the principal. He told that my class teacher asked me to chant 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' at home and not in school. He told the media that after this I was made to sit out of class for four-five periods.

In this case, Father Thomas, the principal of Christ Senior Secondary School, Guna, said that the students were going after the national anthem to select the captain and vice-captain. At the same time a student raised the slogan 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'. He said that the student had raised this slogan not as patriotism, but as a joke, which is insulting. Father Thomas further said that a disciplinary committee meeting would be held to look into the matter.

At the same time, on the issue of punishment of a class VII student for shouting 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' in Christ Senior Secondary School, Guna district ADM Virender Singh Baghel said that after the student was punished, the parents of the students and some local Organizations have protested outside the school. He said that the statements of the District Education Officer (DEO) have been taken in this matter. Based on the complaint received so far, an FIR will be lodged.
