Shiv Sena (Taksali) leader Sudhir Suri was shot dead on Friday in Amritsar, Punjab. The incident took place outside Gopal Mandir on Majitha Road, one of the busiest areas of the city, where Suri was sitting on a dharna along with others. He along with his comrades were staging a sit-in outside the temple after some fragmented idols were found on the roadside. Suri Gopal was opposing the management of the temple. According to the police, more than five bullets were fired at Suri and she was taken to the hospital where she died. The accused Sandeep Singh has been arrested and the weapon used in the crime has also been confiscated. After the court appearance, the accused has been sent on remand for 7 days.
