India's star shuttler PV Sindhu will not play in the BWF World Tour Finals, the final tournament of the season. He has withdrawn his name. Sindhu has decided not to play the tournament due to a left ankle injury. Sindhu suffered this injury during the Commonwealth Games in August. The two-time Olympic medalist is yet to fully recover from the injury.

Sindhu became the champion in 2018 at the BWF World Tour Finals. The tournament will be played in Guangzhou, China from December 14. Sindhu's father PV Ramanna explained the details of the injury. He told news agency PTI that Sindhu's doctors have asked her to take rest for a few more days. With this, he will be fully fit for the next season.

PV Ramanna further said, “Sindhu considered all aspects. Apart from this, many types of restrictions are still in place in Guangzhou. Sindhu has taken her decision keeping the new season in mind. He started practicing two weeks ago. She will be fully fit by January. Keeping all these things in mind, Sindhu sent a letter to the Badminton Association of India and informed about her decision." Now only HS Prannoy will represent India in this tournament after Sindhu's withdrawal.
