ED: Enforcement Directorate Director SK Mishra's tenure extended for 1 more year, got extension for the 3rd time

Enforcement Directorate (ED) chief S. K. Mishra's tenure has been extended by one more year.

Enforcement Directorate (ED) chief Sanjay Kumar Mishra's tenure has been extended by one more year. He has been given one-year extension. With this, he will now continue as the director of ED till November 2023. This is the third time that he has been given an extension in a row. 

Mishra, 60, is a 1984 batch Indian Revenue Service officer in the Income Tax cadre and was appointed as the director of the ED on November 19, 2018. As the ED director has a fixed tenure of two years, his term was ending next week. 

ED works under the Union Ministry of Finance. The agency enforces the criminal provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act and the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) brought in by the Modi government at the Center in 2018.
