A goods train derailed near Korai railway station this morning, in which two persons have been reported died.

Train accident: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the train accident this morning and has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each for the dependents. Significantly, this morning a goods train derailed near Korai railway station, in which two people have been reported killed. The Chief Minister has asked Minister Pramila Malik to go to the spot and inquire about the situation.

Chief Minister announced compensation

In a statement issued by the Odisha CMO, it has been said that the Chief Minister has ordered proper treatment for the injured and proper arrangements for rescue work. Korai railway station comes under East Coast Railway. After the accident, both the railway lines are closed, due to which the train service has been affected.

According to the information given by the East Coast Railway, the rescue work is going on. The derailed train has damaged the building of the railway station. Since both Up and Down lines are closed, Railways has canceled 12821 Shalimar-Puri Express and 18045 Shalimar-Hyderabad Express for today.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav also announced compensation

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav expressed grief over the accident and described the death of two passengers as tragic due to the derailment of the goods train. The Railway Minister has announced a compensation of Rs.5 lakh each for the next of kin of those killed and Rs.25,000 each for the injured.

54 bogies boarded the platform

According to the information, this goods train was going from Kharagpur towards Chhatarpur. There were a total of 54 bogies in the train. Although all the bogies were empty. The wagons of the goods train climbed onto the platform and collided with the station building, resulting in the death of passengers and injuries to many others.
