The current Pakistan Army Chief Bajwa was due to retire on November 29, 2019, but the then Prime Minister Imran Khan gave him a three-year extension on August 19, 2019. It was believed that this time also General Bajwa would demand extension of service, but he had indicated several months ago that he was planning to retire this year.
