Must check before putting news in public domain
Union Minister Anurag Thakur should investigate the news before putting it in the public domain. So that people can get correct and authentic information. Addressing the opening ceremony of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting General, the minister said, the speed at which information is disseminated is important. But accuracy is even more important.
Fake news is spreading fast
Union Minister Anurag Thakur said, along with the spread of social media, fake news is also spreading rapidly. He said, to ensure that the correct information reaches the people, the Government of India has formed a Fact Check team in the Press Information Bureau. Which checks the wrong information and conveys the right information to the people.
Media plays a big role in times of crisis
The Union Minister said, the role of media becomes more important in times of crisis. Minister Anurag Thakur said, media needs to report responsibly on incidents like earthquake, terrorist attacks and fire. Media should ensure that live reporting in case of terrorist attack should not give clue to the attackers and should not promote their evil intentions.
