Cabinet Decisions: National Green Hydrogen Mission approved, Union Minister said - it will provide six lakh jobs

Union Minister Anurag Thakur informed that the 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydroelectric Power Project has been approved for Himachal Pradesh.

The Union Cabinet met under the chairmanship of PM Modi on Wednesday. Many important decisions were taken during this period. Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that today the National Green Hydrogen Mission has been approved by the Union Cabinet. India will become the global hub of green hydrogen. 50 lakh tonnes of green hydrogen will be produced every year. 

He said that under the plan, 50 lakh tonnes of green hydrogen would be produced annually by 2030. Green Hydrogen Center will be developed to bring buyers-sellers under one roof. Incentive will be given for five years regarding electrolyser manufacturing in the country.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur informed that electrolyzer capacity of 60-100 GW will be prepared. 17,490 crore incentive amount will be given on manufacturing of electrolyzer and production of green hydrogen. A provision of 400 crore has been made to develop the hub of green hydrogen.

He informed that Rs 19,744 crore has been approved for the National Green Hydrogen Mission. There will be a direct investment of eight lakh crore rupees from this mission. 6 lakh jobs will be available from this. Green house emissions will be reduced by 50 million tonnes.

Hydroelectric power project approved for Himachal Pradesh also
Union Minister Anurag Thakur informed that 382 MW Sunni dam hydroelectric power project has been approved for Himachal Pradesh. It will cost Rs 2,614 crore. It will be built on the Sutlej river.
