India G20 Presidency: Health Working Group meeting to be held from January 18, focus will be on three priorities

The top agenda of the meeting is the prevention of health emergencies and a healthy and focused attention to antibiotic resistance, the health ministry said.

The first Health Working Group meeting under India's chairmanship of G20 will be held in Thiruvananthapuram from January 18 to 20. The Union Health Ministry gave this information on Monday. The meeting will focus on three priorities, including monitoring health emergencies - preparedness and response, strengthening cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector, besides digital health innovations and solutions, the ministry said. 

The ministry said the top agenda of the meeting was the prevention of health emergencies and a healthy and focused attention to antibiotic resistance. For this, India is going to play a major role in bringing global forums together for discussions, he said. In a statement issued by the Ministry of Health, it has been said that as the chair of the G20 group, India aims to continue and strengthen the health priorities. 

Let us tell you that on December 1, 2022, India assumed the presidency of the G20. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India's G20 presidency will be inclusive and decisive. Under the G20, there will be four Health Working Group (HWG) meetings and one ministerial meeting. These meetings will be held across the country including Thiruvananthapuram, Goa, Hyderabad and Gandhinagar.
