According to the Meteorological Department, there will now be relief from the cold wave in the plains of North West India.

Delhi has experienced the longest cold wave after 12 years. There have been eight days in January this year when the minimum temperature has been much lower than four degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 2.6 degrees Celsius, five notches below normal. It was the eighth day of the cold wave. Earlier, from January 5 to 9, the minimum temperature was less than four degrees and from January 16 to 18, the temperature was less than three degrees.

Now due to the effect of the Western Disturbance, there will be light rain from Thursday night. On the other hand, on January 23 to 24, the phase of light rain will start again. During this, gusty wind will blow at a speed of 30-40 kmph. 

At the same time, now the temperature will start increasing. By January 24, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 22 degrees and the minimum temperature is expected to reach nine degrees. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature was recorded 19.6 and the minimum temperature was 2.6 degree Celsius. In Delhi, the lowest minimum temperature was recorded at 2.2 degrees in Lodi Road, 2.3 in Ridge, 2.9 degrees in Jaffarpur. The Meteorological Department had predicted the cold wave to continue till Wednesday.

Now there will be relief from the cold wave, according to the Meteorological Department, there will be relief from the cold wave in the plains of North West India. The outbreak of cold wave will end from Thursday. On January 19, the maximum temperature is estimated to be 21 and the minimum temperature is five degrees. 

Due to the effect of new Western Disturbance, not only the temperature will increase but light drizzle and rain is expected on Thursday night. Partly cloudy sky is also likely. There will be light fog in the morning from 20 to 22 January.

This year, when and how many days did the minimum temperature remain low, the cold wave did not last so long in Delhi from 2012 to 2023. On January 5, the minimum temperature was 3.0 degrees, on January 6 it was 4 degrees, on January 7 it was 2.2 degrees, on January 8 it was 1.9 degrees, on January 16 it was 1.4 degrees, on January 17 it was 2.4 degrees and on January 18 it was 2.6 degrees.
