The Election Commission (ECI) has taken action regarding the alleged assault on AICC state in-charge at Jirania in West Tripura.

The Election Commission (ECI) has taken action regarding the alleged assault on AICC state in-charge at Jirania in West Tripura. The commission has directed immediate suspension and removal of the SDPO of Jirania subdivision. Apart from this, the officer-in-charge of Rani Bazar police station and the station in-charge of Jirania have been directed to be removed immediately. 

Election Commission appoints three observers

Election Commission of India (ECI) informed that it has appointed three special observers, who will be called immediately to take stock of the situation, ensure proper deployment of CAPFs, intensify enforcement measures and report back to the Commission. Have been asked to go to the state.

The Congress on Wednesday claimed that BJP men, including AICC general secretary Ajay Kumar, were allegedly attacked during a bike rally at four places in Jirania sub-division of West Tripura district. 15 party workers and office bearers were injured. Police, however, had said that 10 party workers were injured in attacks by unidentified miscreants in West Tripura district. 

The commission had asked the CEO's office to obtain a report from the DGP Tripura through the chief secretary and submit it by 3 pm on January 20. He had said that I will send the investigation report to the Election Commission immediately after getting it. The incident took place hours after the Tripura assembly election schedule was announced on Wednesday.
