Sheikh Rasheed has alleged that former President and PPP Chairman Asif Ali Zardari is plotting to kill Imran Khan.

Pakistan's former Home Minister Sheikh Rasheed has been arrested by the Islamabad Police. The arrest took place on Thursday from Murree Motorway. Along with Sheikh Rasheed, his nephew Sheikh Rasheed Shafiq has also been arrested. However, Sheikh Rasheed claims that he was arrested from his home in Rawalpindi. Sheikh Rashid is the head of the Awami Muslim League and the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party and is close to former Prime Minister Imran Khan. In Imran Khan's government itself, Sheikh Rasheed took over the post of Home Minister of Pakistan. Significantly, recently the police also arrested Fawad Chaudhary, a PTI leader and close aide of Imran Khan.

Sheikh Rasheed has been arrested on the complaint of Pakistan Peoples Party leader Raja Inayat ur Rehman. The PPP leader had filed a complaint at Islamabad's Abpara police station and said in the complaint that Sheikh Rasheed alleged that former President and PPP chairman Asif Ali Zardari was conspiring to assassinate Imran Khan. Sheikh Rasheed had said that Asif Zardari has earned a lot of money from corruption and has invested this money in terrorist organizations. Zardari has conspired to kill Imran Khan by giving money to a terrorist organization. PPP had strongly objected to this statement of Sheikh Rashid.

Sheikh Rasheed has been kept at the Secretariat Police Station after his arrest. Sheikh Rashid said after his arrest that his fault is that he is standing with Imran Khan. Sheikh Rasheed said that he was arrested at the behest of the present government's Home Minister Rana Sanaullah.

At the same time, former PM Imran Khan has reacted strongly to the arrest of his colleague Sheikh Rashid and has also threatened to hit the streets. Imran Khan tweeted that he strongly opposes the arrest of Sheikh Rasheed. Never in our history has there been such a partisan caretaker government. The question is whether Pakistan can withstand the agitation on the streets now, when the country is on the verge of bankruptcy. He said that his party is being forced to take to the streets.
