Protesters who came out to gherao the residence of the Chief Minister of Punjab, demanding the release of Sikh prisoners and action in the cases of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib, had a violent clash with the police on the Sector-51/52 border on Wednesday. The policemen were chased and beaten. There were also attacks with swords. Many policemen are injured. The DGP has blamed it on the Quami Insaf Morcha. In gestures, he also raised questions on the Punjab Police.

The protest has been going on for a month near Mohali's YPS Chowk. The supporters of Qaumi Insaf Morcha wanted to go to the residence of the Chief Minister of Punjab for three days for their demands. On Wednesday too, a group of people tried to enter Chandigarh. Meanwhile, the police used water cannons on the protesters. The protesters tried to break the barricading. In no time, the Chandigarh-Mohali border became a ground of violence and there were clashes with the police.

When the policemen used sticks, the protesters also started beating them. There was also an attempt to stop the supporters with water canon. In such a situation, the crowd took out swords and sticks, showing anger. Stones were also pelted during the demonstration. Meanwhile, the protesters broke the security cover of the police and entered the Chandigarh border. Seeing this, the policemen retreated leaving the vehicles on the spot. After this, the protesters broke several police vehicles.

Nihangs seen attacking policemen

Hundreds of Sikh protesters have been staging a sit-in and fury march since January 7 under the Quami Insaaf Morcha near Mohali Gurdwara Amb Sahib on the Chandigarh-Punjab border. They are also having a clash with the police while trying to enter Chandigarh. At the same time, the Morcha is being supported by the farmers union of Punjab as well as UP. During this some policemen were also injured and some Nihangs were seen attacking a fallen policeman. On the other hand, after the police used water cannon and stone pelting, the angry protesters broke the glasses of police vehicles and once broke the barricade and went ahead but the leadership of the front appealed to them to return, so they returned to the front. After the incident, top officials of Chandigarh Police reached the spot.

As soon as Musewala's mother came, anti-Morcha slogans were raised. Quami Insaf Morcha leaders also said that some mischievous elements from outside pelted stones at the police and the party.

An attempt has been made to vitiate the atmosphere through this. On the other hand, the arrival of Sidhu Moosewala's mother on Wednesday also enthused some youths. Due to this, some such slogans were also raised which were not in favor of Pakke Morcha.

15 policemen recruited in GMSH-16, two-three have suffered serious injuries

According to information, many policemen have suffered injuries in the clash. About 15 policemen have been admitted in GMSH-16, out of which two-three have also received serious injuries. Most of them have got scratches, who were sent home on Wednesday after giving first aid. Among the injured are RAF personnel who sustained injuries on head, arms, legs and body. Apart from this, the protesters have caused a lot of damage to the Chandigarh Police vehicles. This includes police's Vajra and Varun vehicles, Gypsy, Scorpio etc.

How people reached the border with weapons is a matter of concern: DGP

Chandigarh DGP Praveen Ranjan also reached the spot. He said that what has happened is in the area of Punjab. So how did so many people reach here with these weapons. This is a matter to think about. Said that he is in touch with the Punjab Police. Told that three days ago the protesters had announced that they wanted to go towards the CM's residence. They were told by the police that Section-144 has been imposed in Chandigarh. The area of CM residence comes under high security zone. Therefore, no demonstration of any kind can be allowed there. Despite this, around 12-1 pm on Wednesday around 1000 people came near the barricade. Initially they chatted for a while. After this, he suddenly became furious and tried to move forward by breaking the barricade.

Attack on policemen with swords, FIR will be registered

DGP Praveer Ranjan said that many of those who were there on Wednesday had weapons including sticks, swords and many other dangerous weapons. When the police stopped them, suddenly they attacked the policemen in which many policemen got hurt. Police used water cannon and tried to stop but another group came from behind. There were horses in that group, who had weapons and they came straight and attacked the policemen with swords. He said that Qaumi Insaf Morcha is fully responsible for what happened today, as they had given assurance to Chandigarh along with Punjab. Said that in this case FIR will be registered against all those who were involved in it. Chandigarh Police has a lot of videos and photographs, on the basis of which action will be taken.
