National-level archer Bhavna gave her life in Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab and Haryana. The body of a female player has been recovered from the house in Nayagaon, adjacent to Chandigarh. The police has arrested the professor's husband in the case of dowry harassment.

According to the information, gold medalist Bhavna died on Friday night at her house in Dashmesh Nagar of Nayagaon. Bhavna was 27 years old. Bhavna's father Prakash Chandra has given a complaint to the police alleging dowry harassment. Presently, on the complaint of the father, the police registered a case against the accused husband Sachin Chahal resident of Jind (Haryana) and arrested him. The accused was produced in the court on Saturday, from where he was sent on two-day police remand.

It is being told that Sachin Chahal, husband of female player Bhavna, is an assistant professor in the Punjab University History Department in Chandigarh. Both were married in November 2022. It is alleged that since the marriage, the in-laws were pressurizing them to get a car and a flat in Chandigarh as dowry. On the night of February 17, at around 8.30 pm, the family members received a call from Sachin that Bhavna was not opening the door. Later, when the door was opened, Bhavna was lying dead on the bed.

Bhavna was preparing for the test

Bhavna had won the gold medal in archery in the National Games. Also studied up to post graduation. At present, she was preparing for the test to get a job through sports quota. The Chandigarh Police has conducted the post-mortem of the dead body and the report is pending. On the basis of preliminary investigation, the police have arrested the husband of the deceased.
