Presenting the new budget, the Karnataka government had announced an allocation of Rs 425 crore for the construction of the Ram temple. While starting his Prajadhwani Yatra, DK Shivakumar told News18 that where are they going to build the Ram Mandir? They (BJP) are trying to woo people emotionally.
DK Shivakumar said, 'Go and ask the people of Ramnagar, where is the Ram temple there... Was Ram born there? Was Sita born there or Anjaneya? There is no such history there, but there is a small Ram temple. Let them (BJP) make anything, it will not affect us politically.
Let us tell you that several senior BJP leaders had written to the Chief Minister demanding the formation of a temple development committee, after which Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai had announced. The committee will plan and execute the construction of a Ram temple at Ramdevrabetta in the Ramanagara district. This area is considered a stronghold of the Janata Dal (Secular) and the Congress. The Congress alleges that with an allocation of Rs 425 crore, the BJP plans to make Ramdevrabetta the 'Ayodhya of the South' which will be spread over 19 acres.
Build the Ram temple later, first build the BJP office
The Karnataka Congress chief said that there are some local ministers and leaders who want to create communal unrest in the area and are therefore making this demand. At the same time, Shivakumar has challenged CM Bommai to ask him to build a BJP office in Ramnagar before thinking of building a Ram temple. Shivakumar said that the Congress office is a temple for the Congress. Let them build the BJP office there first and then the Ram temple.
