Sania lost in the first round of the Dubai Championship, ended her career with six Grand Slam titles

Sania, who took court in the women's doubles event with US's Madison Keys, was defeated 6-4, 6-0 by the pair of Kudermetova and Samsonova.

India's legendary female tennis player Sania Mirza has faced defeat in the first round of her last tournament. Sania suffered a first round defeat in the women's doubles at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.

Sania, who took court in the women's doubles event with US's Madison Keys, was defeated 6-4, 6-0 by the pair of Kudermetova and Samsonova. Thus ended Sania's 20-year-long career.

On January 13 this year, Sania had written a three-page note saying that the Dubai Championship would be her last tournament after the Australian Open. However, he lost in the very first round of his last tournament. Earlier, Sania had reached the final with Rohan Bopanna in the mixed doubles event of the Australian Open.
