The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) went viral on social media as soon as the exam paper for Biology subject of class 12th state board exam started.

WB Board Class 12th Paper Leak! : The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) went viral on social media as soon as the exam paper for Biology subject of class 12th state board exam started. The purported images of two pages of the question paper surfaced on WhatsApp on Saturday, more than two-and-a-half hours after the exam began.

WB Board chief said - it cannot be considered a paper leak

But the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education said that it cannot be called a paper leak and called it a prank. West Bengal Board President Chiranjib Bhattacharya said that some vested interests might have circulated the image of the question paper long after its introduction. Bhattacharya told that if the paper is made viral two and a half hours after the commencement of the examination, then what is the big deal in it? Candidates can leave the examination hall till that time and if someone clicks two page photographs outside the examination venue and circulates them on social media, it does not in any way affect the conduct of the examination.

Argument - Leak is not possible from CCTV and Radio Frequency devices

However, he appealed to such mischief-makers to desist from such childish antics and help conduct the examinations smoothly in the interest of every student. Bhattacharya informed that CCTV surveillance is in place at 2349 locations and some of the more than 200 sensitive locations have facilities to detect the presence of any electronic devices using radio frequency devices. So the chances of question paper leak are almost negligible. Despite this, the Council is cautious, he said. The sensitive sites are located in different districts and most of them are in Malda.

WB Board 12th exams started from March 14

Bhattacharya, chairman of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, said the council was looking into the source of the question paper's circulation on WhatsApp and would submit a report to the government. While there were reports of question papers being circulated on WhatsApp in class 10th state board exams this year, 2019 and earlier, this is the first time that such an incident has been reported during higher secondary exams in recent times. The HS exams started in West Bengal from March 14.
