Police officials said that 38-year-old Papalpreet Singh was the mastermind behind Amritpal Singh's escape.

Papalpreet also has some criminal cases registered against him including attempt to murder. The police have circulated the pictures of Papalpreet all over Punjab and neighboring states.

Security increased around Sri Harimandir Sahib, keeping an eye on Rajasthan border

Security has been increased inside and outside the Sri Harimandir Sahib complex in Amritsar for the arrest of Amritpal. Around 250 policemen in plain clothes have been deployed. DCP Law and Order Parminder Singh Bhandal says that special blocks have also been set up at Bhandari Bridge, Hall Bazar, Putli Ghar, Ranjit Avenue, Majitha Road, Batala Road and Tarn Taran Road in the city. On Wednesday, the police also raided different places in Amritsar and Tarn Taran districts. On the other hand, in Abohar of Fazilka district adjacent to Rajasthan, the vigil has been tightened at the interstate check points. Police teams are ready at the Gumjal border with Rajasthan.
