Congress chief Angkita Dutta said on Thursday that she has filed a police complaint against the organisation's national president Srinivas B V, alleging harassment and manhandling. The state unit of the party on Tuesday issued a show cause notice to Srinivas BV for her tweet in which she accused them of discriminating against her on the basis of gender.
Dutta while registering a complaint at the Dispur police station hereIt is alleged that Srinivas has been harassing women for the last six months by making lewd remarks against them, using abusive words and threatening them with dire consequences if they complain to senior party functionaries.
During the party's convention, the accused manhandled her and threatened to ruin her political career. She alleged, 'I also remember till today that he used the words 'Hey girl, what do you keep writing' and also asked what alcoholic beverages I drink.
The rule of law will be followed. Hours after Dutta tweeted two days back, Srinivas issued her a legal notice claiming she was defaming him in preparation for leaving the
Congress and joining the
BJP.

Congress president Bhupen Bora told reporters that Dutta met him after Dutta called him to his office for an explanation after he tweeted the allegations against Srinivas. “We have asked state vice-president (communications) Babita Sarma to coordinate with AICC in this matter and a show-cause notice has already been issued to her.
