Another student suicide case has come to light from IIT Madras.

One More IIT-M Student Dies By Suicide: The cases of suicide of students in higher educational institutions are not stopping. On Friday, April 21, another case of suicide of a student has come to light from IIT Madras. This is the fourth case of student suicide from IIT Madras this year i.e. in the last three-four months and the 12th since 2018. 

The student was a resident of Madhya Pradesh

A second-year BTech student of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, allegedly committed suicide on the campus, police said on Friday. The student was a resident of Madhya Pradesh. As per information, the deceased student has been identified as 20-year-old Kedar Suresh, who was a resident of Kaveri Hostel. A Chennai police official said the body has been taken for post-mortem and a preliminary investigation is being conducted at the IIT Madras campus. Further details about the incident are awaited. 

PhD student's body was found on April 2

Earlier, on April 2, 2023, Sachin Kumar, a PhD student at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, was found dead in his room in Velachery, Tamil Nadu. The police had told the media that the student was a resident of West Bengal and was 32 years old. It was told that the student had committed suicide on 31 March. 

Third year student found dead in hostel on March 14, 2023

Whereas even before this, on March 14, 2023, a third year student was found dead in the hostel room located on the campus of IIT Madras. Even then, in the preliminary investigation of the police, there was talk of suicide.
