Australia to host Quad leaders' summit

Australia is going to host the Quad Leaders Summit this time. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced this on Twitter. Anthony Albanese tweeted, I am delighted to announce that Australia will host the Quad Leaders Summit in Sydney on 24 May for the first time. Prime Minister Modi will visit Australia in May to participate in the Quad Leadership Summit.

The announcement was made during a joint press conference held by Prime Minister Modi with his Australian counterpart in March, when he was on a four-day visit to India. PM Modi had said, both India and Australia are members of the Quad. I thank PM Albanese for inviting me to Australia for the Quad Leaders Summit in May. I have invited him to visit India for the G-20 Summit in September.

The leaders of the Quad group have already met on four occasions and their next meeting will be held in Australia. The Group has grown in importance in the region due to the keen interest in sustainable and inclusive economic growth and increased people-to-people contacts between Quad members and non-Quad members. Prime Minister Modi has emphasized on several occasions that the Quad is a force for global good and aims at the development of the Indo-Pacific region while protecting the interests of all its members.

Let us tell you, Quad is a strategic platform which includes India, Japan, America and Australia. Its primary objective is to develop a new strategy to keep the vital sea routes in the Indo-Pacific region free from any influence.
