LGBTQIA+ parents in India have formed this group to support each other and accept their children as they are and be happy as a family. The group of LGBTQIA+ parents has said in its open letter that as parents they know and understand and accept the gender and sexuality of their children. Accept-The Rainbow Parents said that the Supreme Court's decision to decriminalize consensual same sex relationships has created a big impact on the society. This has helped the LGBTQIA+ community. They felt that the lives, feelings and wishes of their children were considered valid.

A five-judge constitution bench of the Supreme Court is hearing petitions to legalize same-sex marriage. On the very first day of hearing, the bench had confined the arguments in the case of the religion-neutral Special Marriage Act. The apex court also said that it would not touch upon issues affecting personal laws of different communities. The petitioners have urged the constitution bench to give legal sanction to same sex marriage and make provisions in the law to bring them at par with normal couples.
