According to a notification, the total curfew, which prohibits people from moving out of their homes, will be relaxed for three hours on Sunday morning so that people can buy essential items like medicines and food.

While the administration has imposed curfew under section 144 of CrPC, it will be relaxed from 7 am to 10 am. On Saturday also two hours relaxation was given from 3 pm to 5 pm.

Sharing the copy of the notification on Saturday night, N Biren Singh tweeted that with the improvement in the law and order situation in Churachandpur district and after the interaction between the state government and various stakeholders, I am happy to share that below There will be partial relaxation in curfew as per details given.

The notification issued by Churachandpur District Magistrate Sharath Chandra Aroju said that the relaxation will be reviewed and notified based on the assessment of the prevailing law and order situation.

The march was called by students' organization All Tribal Students' Union of Manipur (ATSUM) to protest their demand to include the Meitei community in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category. Violence broke out during a protest called 'Adivasi Ekta March'. The curfew was imposed on May 3 following violent clashes between tribals and members of the majority Meitei community, which have so far displaced thousands and killed at least 54.

Meites constitute about 53 percent of Manipur's population and mostly live in the Imphal Valley. The tribals - Naga and Kuki - constitute another 40 percent of the population and live mostly in the hill districts.

CM announces peace committee in each assembly constituency

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Saturday said that peace committees will be constituted in every assembly constituency to ensure the implementation of peace initiatives at the grassroots level. The CM made the announcement after chairing an all-party meeting on the current situation in the violence-hit state.

He said that an all-political party meeting was held to discuss the prevailing situation in Manipur and work collectively to bring peace and stability in the state. Further the CM said that during the meeting, it was resolved to appeal for peace in the state and encourage all citizens to refrain from any action that may lead to violence or instability.
