Along with the Karnataka Assembly, the counting of votes for the by-elections held across the country is also taking place. Among the seats on which by-elections have been held, there are two assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh. Swar Tanda seat of Uttar Pradesh comes in Rampur district. Six candidates were in the fray for the Swar seat. SP has nominated Anuradha Chauhan and Apna Dal has nominated Shafiq Ahmed Ansari from Swar seat.

Apna Dal has won the thrilling contest of counting of votes in Swar. Here the Apna Dal candidate went ahead continuously and he has put this seat in his account by defeating the Samajwadi Party candidate. Shafiq Ansari has won from Swar assembly seat of Rampur. Samajwadi Party's Anuradha Chowdhary has lost in this election to elect a new MLA. Although the official announcement is yet to be made.

Swar Vidhansabha by-election update- Apna Dal Shafiq Ahmed Ansari 50672 votes, SP candidate Anuradha Chauhan 45419 votes. In this way Apna Dal candidate Shafiq Ahmad Ansari was leading by 5253 votes.
While in the earlier round Apna Dal candidate Shafiq Ahmed Ansari got 37,923 votes. While SP candidate Anuradha Chauhan got 37,078 votes. After 12 rounds of counting, Shafiq Ahmed was leading by 845 votes.
Rampur is considered to be the stronghold of SP leader Azam Khan. Swar's seat fell vacant after Azam Khan's son Abdullah Azam lost his legislative seat. Voting was held on May 10 in Swar and Chanbe.
