CUET UG Exam 2023: UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar said on Friday that in view of the law and order situation in Manipur, the Common Undergraduate Entrance Test CUET has been postponed till May 29. The second edition of Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is all set to begin from May 21 across the country.

M Jagadesh Kumar said the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the exam, is considering setting up a temporary exam center in Srinagar to accommodate candidates who have been allotted centers outside J&K. . Several students from Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand have been held up by being allotted exam centers hundreds of kilometers away from their hometowns despite their preference for a closer centre.

"The NTA is exploring the possibility of setting up a temporary center in Srinagar to accommodate candidates who have been allotted centers outside," the University Grants Commission (UGC) chief told news agency PTI. The atmosphere in Manipur was vitiated by violence earlier this month. Due to this the exam has been postponed by a week and students still have the option to change the centre.

Exams in the northeastern state will start from May 29

Kumar said the NTA has carefully reviewed the law and order situation in consultation with the state administration and has contacted these candidates telephonically to know their preferred city. Some candidates who were not in Manipur or wanted to take the exam in some other state are being allotted (centre) Delhi and other cities including Guwahati. The option to change the center is still available for the candidates of Manipur.
