A senior police official said that the court has extended the police custody of the accused by three days.

Police have recovered the knife allegedly used by 20-year-old Sahil in the murder of a minor girl in North West Delhi's Shahbad Dairy area. A senior police officer gave this information. He told that the court has extended the police custody of the accused by three days. He was again interrogated and at his instance the weapon used in the crime was recovered.

He told that Sahil was also confronted with other people as he used to change his statement again and again. He told that three friends of the deceased, Bhavna, Ajay alias Jhabru and Neetu, were also interrogated separately and their statements were collated.

Significantly, on last Sunday evening, 16-year-old Sakshi was allegedly murdered by Sahil by stabbing her more than 20 times with a knife and then crushing her with a stone in Shahbad Dairy area. According to the police, Sakshi had 34 injury marks on her body and her skull was also cracked. Sahil was arrested the next day from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. He had allegedly thrown the knife in the bushes of Rithala after the crime.

A senior police officer said that Sahil used to do fridge-AC work. The video of the murder became increasingly viral on social media, leaving everyone who saw the video shocked. In the video, Sahil, wearing a blue T-shirt, can be seen stabbing the girl. About seven to eight people are seen present on the spot.

The police officer said that the victim was in a relationship with Sahil but they had an argument on Sunday. The officer said Sakshi was on her way to attend her friend's son's birthday when Sahil stopped her and brutally killed her. A case has been registered under IPC section 302 (murder) on the complaint of the victim's father.

What did the police tell in the court?

Sahil was presented in a Delhi court on Thursday. The police told the court that further interrogation of Sahil is necessary. They said they needed his custodial remand to recover the knife used in the crime and his mobile phone.

After considering the arguments of the police, the court accepted their request and allowed Sahil to be kept in police custody. The police also said that the accused was constantly changing his statement regarding the incident, which also needed to be verified.
