Assam's Kokrajhar district on Saturday averted a major train accident similar to the incident in Odisha when a train went ahead with the engine and two other coaches while the remaining eight coaches got separated from the rest of the train. The engine of the train moved forward for about 600 meters along with two coaches. Fortunately, no train was coming from behind, so a major incident was averted.

According to the information received from the sources, this incident is being reported between Kokrajhar and Fakiragram railway stations. Here the engine of the train went ahead with two bogies and eight coaches remained behind. However, there was no major accident. There was no passenger in it either. Had a train arrived in the meantime, an incident like Odisha could have been a big incident.

An eyewitness said, "We saw the engine separating from the bogies. The engine of the train continued to run for about 600 meters except for a few coaches. Luckily there were no passengers inside the train. Though we initially thought it was Rajdhani Express, later we came to know that it was a new train and we were not aware of its name. Later, when the loco pilot came to know about this, he brought back the engine and attached the bogies with the help of the guard from the railway station.
