The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad told the court that a woman Pakistani agent who honey-trapped the scientist was made a co-accused in the case.

DRDO scientist Pradeep Kurulkar has been accused of giving confidential information related to DRDO. The scientist was arrested by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad on May 3 on charges of leaking confidential information along with a Pakistani woman. And the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad told the court that a woman Pakistani agent was made a co-accused in the case, who honey-trapped the scientist.

Scientist Kurulkar worked as director at a laboratory of the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) in Pune. Sources said a woman named Zara Dasgupta was in touch with Kurulkar. The ATS added Zara Dasgupta's name to the FIR after the agent's IP address was found to be in Pakistan.

According to the ATS, the DRDO scientist was in touch with the Pakistani agent through WhatsApp and video calls. The ATS said that despite being in a responsible position, the DRDO official misused his position. He compromised his obligations and the security of the country by leaking sensitive government information. If such information falls into the hands of an enemy nation, it can pose a threat to India's security.

What is the matter?

In fact, on May 3, the Maharashtra ATS arrested senior DRDO scientist Pradeep Kurulkar. He is accused of leaking sensitive information to a Pakistani intelligence agency spy. The matter is being told of honeytrap. He had befriended an unknown person on social media last year. DRDO probed their activities and prima facie found leakage of information. After this, he was sacked from the post of director of the Pune-based lab. He was heading the Research and Development Establishment (Engineers) in Pune.
