Madhya Pradesh is the second state in the country to implement the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication is going to start a new community radio from August 15. For this, frequency has also been allotted to the university. Many new courses have been started in the university under the new education policy. In the coming session, the university is going to start journalism courses in Indian languages as well. Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. (Dr.) KG Suresh told Amar Ujala that the admission in the university has been very good after the implementation of the new education policy.

He said that we have also increased the courses, under the National Education Policy we have started a total of 10 new courses which are four years old. Under this policy, we have given a lot of importance to the language. Under this, the Department of Indian Languages has been established. Hindi language course has been started for the first time. Under the policy, the Department of Cinema Studies has been established giving importance to vocational education.

From 15th August we are starting Community Radio 'Karmaveer'. This community radio will not only be for the students of the university, but the villages around the university will also be benefited from it. Students will get experience of doing rural journalism. Along with this, the university is in the process of starting training on drone journalism.

Importance being given to Indian knowledge tradition

The Vice-Chancellor said that importance has been given to Indian knowledge tradition in all the PhD courses. We have made it necessary to add Indian knowledge tradition in PhD course. We have designed the four-year bachelor's degree course in such a way that if the student wants to leave in one year, he/she gets a certificate. Diploma after two years, degree after three years and degree student after four years can take research qualification. If after this he does masters program then it will be of one year only. However, we have been running it for the last two years. So far no student has left the course midway.

Emphasis on improving the language of students

The Vice-Chancellor of the University said that we are also making a digital studio. We are also building a language lab to improve the language. We get feedback that the language level of the students is getting weak. The university is constantly making efforts to improve it. A diploma program in Sindhi journalism is going to be started in collaboration with the National Council for Promotion of Sindhi Language under the Indian language. There is also a plan to start a course in Marathi journalism from next year. Along with this, in a new initiative this year English Honors course has also been started in self finance mode. Because English medium children have to go outside the state for English journalism.

 MOU signed with Kerala organization

The university currently has courses in Hindi, Marathi and Sindhi languages. Under the new education policy, we have signed an MoU with Mahatma Gandhi College of Communication, an institution in Kerala, under which its students will come to study at our place for a few days. Vice-Chancellor KG Suresh said that if the demand increases in future, courses will be started in other Indian languages.

Emphasis on making entrepreneurs along with placement

Vice Chancellor KG Suresh told that we have now converted our placement cell into placement and entrepreneurship cell. In today's time many students are also starting youtube, website, channel. We are also organizing training for them. We are also preparing children for entrepreneurship.
