Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that an agreement has been reached in France to make payments through Indian UPI.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the Indians in the French capital Paris on Thursday said that very soon Indian tourists will be able to make UPI payments even at the Eiffel Tower. He said that an agreement has been reached in France to make payments through Indian UPI. It will start from the Eiffel Tower and Indians will be able to pay in rupees here through UPI. PM Modi said that this agreement will open up a huge new market for Indian innovation. At the same time, the PM appealed to the Indians to invest in large quantities in the country to make India a rapidly developing country. He said, all the rating agencies are describing India as a shining star. This is the right time for you to invest.

Let us tell you, in 2022, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the leading organization providing UPI services, signed an MoU with France's fast and secure online payment system 'Lyra'. Subsequently in 2023, UPI and Singapore's PayNow signed an agreement, allowing users of both countries to conduct cross-border transactions. UAE, Bhutan and Nepal have already adopted the UPI payment system. NPCI International is in talks to expand UPI services to the US, European countries and West Asia.

India's capability and role is rapidly changing in the new world order

Addressing the Indian community in Paris, PM Modi, referring to India's presidency of the G-20, said, for the first time in the presidency of a country, more than 200 meetings are being held in every nook and corner. PM Modi said, India's thousands of years of history, experience and the scope of India's efforts for world welfare is huge. India is the mother of democracy and a symbol of diversity. This is our great strength. Referring to India's achievements, the PM said, India grew from 10th to 5th largest economy in the world in 10 years. It is not only Indians who are proud of this. Due to this achievement, the whole world has the belief that it will not take long for India to become a $5 trillion economy.
