Maharashtra Landslide: Five killed due to landslide in Raigad, around 100 people buried, CM Shinde reached the spot

All hospitals in Panvel and Navi Mumbai have been informed and instructed to provide all necessary medical services to the affected.

A major accident has taken place in Raigad, Maharashtra. In fact, more than 30 families are feared trapped in the landslide in Raigad. Please tell that this accident happened in Irshalwadi village of Khalapur tehsil of Raigarh, in which about 100 people are trapped. The place where the accident took place is six kilometers away from the Morbi dam. Many people are feared to have died in the accident. So far five bodies have been recovered and three people are injured. The injured have been admitted to hospital. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has also reached the spot.

Relief and rescue operations underway

Raigarh District Magistrate Yogesh Mahase said that the incident took place in the middle of the night. A team, comprising Sub Divisional Officer and Tehsildar has reached the spot. The District Magistrate said that one has to trek for two hours to reach the place where the landslide occurred, due to which the relief and rescue work is challenging. As soon as the information about the incident was received, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also called the officials and inquired about the incident and reached the spot on Thursday morning. All the hospitals in Panvel and Navi Mumbai have been informed and instructed to provide all necessary medical services to the affected.

Red alert of heavy rain in Raigarh

On the other hand, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rains in Raigarh on Thursday. The district administration has appealed to the NGOs to come forward to help the NDRF so that the rescue operation can be completed at the earliest. Two teams of NDRF have reached the spot. Along with this, four ambulances are also present on the spot. Tribal people live at the place where the accident took place. Five-six houses and a school were saved safely at the accident site. Due to the rain, 10-12 people were staying in the school, due to which their lives were saved. On the other hand, five people who had gone to Morbi dam for fishing, their lives have also been saved.

Home Minister Amit Shah inquired about the incident

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has taken information about the incident over phone from Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. In a tweet, Amit Shah wrote that 'I spoke to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde regarding the landslide caused by heavy rains in Raigad, Maharashtra. Four NDRF teams have reached the spot and are carrying out rescue operations along with the local administration. Our priority is to evacuate people from there and give immediate treatment to the injured.
