Alexey Navalny, Putin's biggest opponent, may face 20 years in prison, accused of forming a radical community

Alexey Navalny, the biggest political opponent of Vladimir Putin in Russia, could be jailed for 20 years. Russia's public prosecutors on Thursday sought to sentence Navalny to 20 years in maximum security prison. Navalni is accused of creating a radical community. Navalny's lawyer Olga Mikhailova has also confirmed this.

Accused of forming a radical community

According to media reports, blogger Navalny can be convicted under article 282.1 (accused of creating a radical community and participating in its activities) of the third part of the Criminal Code of Russia. Also Navalny is accused of funding radical activities, making public calls for radical activities. The Russian prosecutor has demanded from the court that Navalny be sentenced to 20 years in prison in these cases.

Navalny is currently serving a jail term in another case. The court hearing took place behind closed doors. Along with Navalny, Leonid Volkov, Ivan Zhdanov, Libov Sobol, Grigory Alburov are also accused of creating a radical community. Except Navalny, all others are absconding and living outside Russia.

Explain that Alexey Navalny is the founder of the Anti Corruption Foundation and is considered a critic of Putin in Russia. Even during the hearing, Navalny criticized the Russia Ukraine war. Navalny has already served 11-and-a-half years in jail in another case of cheating.
